Midwesterner Takes Over as CEO of Vail Resorts

Yesterday afternoon Vail Resorts, Inc. announced that Kirsten Lynch will take over as Chief Executive Officer on November 1st, 2021. She will be replacing Rob Katz who has held the position of CEO since 2006.

Lynch is Vail's Chief Marketing Officer and has been with the company since 2011. Lynch grew up in Chicago and spent many of her years there skiing the now Vail-owned Wilmot mountain (The Matterhorn of the Midwest as many of us know it by.) She currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband and two children.

The company stated that Katz will remain involved with key strategic projects and decisions moving forward. It was not made clear why Katz decided to step down from his current position.

Vail Resorts currently owns and operates ten different resorts across six states in the Midwest;

It is always great to see Midwesterners doing well throughout the industry and also marks a major milestone for women in a historically male-dominated industry. Congratulations to Kirsten Lynch and are looking forward to the positive changes you will bring to Vail Resorts!
