Bracket Season is Here
Well, it is that time of the year... pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, and, of course, the Midwestskiers.com Race to Open Bracket Challenge.
This year is a HUGE one! We had one of the strongest fields since the bracket's inception. Every ski area in the field of 36 tied with at least one ski area for the opening date, and last Black Friday (November 25th), we saw thirteen ski areas open.
All said and done, we had forty-five ski areas in the Midwest open on or before the Thanksgiving weekend - one of the strongest showings I can ever recall.
Breaking the Thirteen Way Tie
But all these ski areas opening so early in the season created a problem as we started calculating the field of 36... we had a thirteen-way tie for seeds 29 - 36. That said, the only fair way we could seed these ski areas was to draw from a hat, and we did that on our latest episode of the Rope Tow Report Live.
To avoid this happening again, seeds will continue to be determined by the opening date. However, if there is a tie in opening dates, we will move to whoever opened with more runs during that date.
But here we go: the official 2023 Race to Open Bracket is here! Who do you have to win it all? Are there any sleepers this season to keep our eyes on?
